A beautiful family, a liars’ family
The new book that the class chose to read
was “We
were Liars”, written by E. Lockhart. It was a mystery fiction book,
which I didn’t know what the mystery is until now. I have read to chapter 5,
but each chapters were short and the writer’s language using was concise. Thus,
I thought I only got some basic information about the book. Actually, I read it
so carefully that I wouldn’t want to miss any important sentence will confused
my future reading.
The story started by introducing their
family. They were the Sinclairs, who owned a private island. They were all
beautiful and noble; they were all smart and athletic; they were all rich; and
they were all happy. It made me to think about if that was even a lie. However,
when I read chapter 2, I made sure that they were not that happy. Cadence was
the main character and the narrator of the book, but actually, she wasn’t a
reliable one. Her dad left her mom, Penny, and her in her 15th year
of being the Sinclairs. It’s because he didn’t want to lie, or smile or being
that family anymore. Cadence felt sad and of course she lost her temper, but
her mom just told her to come down and be normal. In fact, it was what they
usually did. They have to pretend to be happy and always smile. Was that a
beautiful family? I asked myself.
Then, the story flashed back to the 8th
summer in her life. There was a rule that all the Sinclair daughters should go
back to Beechwood Island every summer. Cadence’s grandparents had three
daughters, Penny, Carrie and Bess. Cadence was Penny’s daughter. Carrie’s
husband also left her already; the reason hasn’t mentioned yet, but I think it
might be the same reason that Cadence’s father left. And she have had a new boy
friend called Ed. Ed was not as similar as the Sinclairs; he has dark skin,
just like the Indians, and black hair. He brought his nephew with him, which
called Gat. Johnny was Carrie’s son, and he’s bounce, effort and snark. Mirren
was Bess’s daughter, and she’s sweet, curiosity and rain. Cadence, Mirren,
Johnny and Gat combined together and were called, the liars. Nevertheless, I
didn’t know the reason yet.
Although Ed and Gat looked so different
from the other Sinclairs, Cadence loved Gat straightforwardly. In chapter 5,
Cadence and Gat went to a boat together and then went to swim in the cold
water. Then, Gat found that Cadence was beautiful and Cadence found that they
match each other. Cadence had said that, ”I am not talking about fate. I don’t
believe in destiny or soul mates or the supernatural.” However, Cadence knew
that she loved the feeling that they seemed to understand each other so well.
I wanted to say that I wish the young love
would insist for a long time, but my curiosity refused my mind with the
decision of with stop reading the book. I’m sure that the following chapters
are attractive and I wish to understand the plots soon.

chapter10 reaction
In the end of the book, which is chapter
10, Lorenzo’s “ski week” was going to end and so Olivia needed to leave the
cellar. I knew that Lorenzo changed to care about others and he was happy that
Olivia truly understood what he was like. It made me feel warm that he got some
one he cared about and he started to think in the way of other. I felt happy of
him. I thought Olivia would die before she left Lorenzo’s home but actually she
died a long time later. They promised each other to live and not letting the
other alone. I like the way they love each other and kind of disappointed that
they didn’t met once again before Olivia’s death.

summary 8 and 9
Lorenzo wanted to help Olivia; he wanted to
save her. He went out the cellar to get medicine. Silver Monkey was having rest
while he went out. He was lucky. He went to the hospital but he realized that
he didn’t achieve his promise of meet his grandmother. He got the medicine,
without interrupting any nurses or doctors. No one noticed him, but he was
entangled. Grandma Laura was sick heavily. Finally, he decided to go see her.
She could have been dead; she’s extremely slim and sick. Grandma Laura asked him
to tell a story, and he chose a story of a little pool-cleaning robot. The
robot has been invented to kill Sadam, but it lastly fell in to a never-ending
swimming pool, which is the ocean, and disappear. And two years later, the
scientist found it with the eggs they lay. A nurse came, and he ran away. He
took the risk to be found by the nurses, his parents, the silvery monkey, to
find sleeping pill and pain killer for Olivia. When he got back, he thought
Olivia was dead. He felt so tired, which is more than any time he felt in all
of his life. He wanted to sleep that he felt too tired. However, Olivia moved
her finger and opened her eyes. She just took two sleeping pills so she wanted
to sleep. He felt relax a lot, and fell asleep with her.

Love
Love would never come
Unless people go find it
It won't be so long
Spring
Spring comes silently,
Twist flowers into a wreath.
Sky is always bright.

Thinking question
1. If Lorenzo doesn't want Olivia to live in the cellar, would Olivia really tell their dad about it?
2. Why Olivia doesn't want to meet their dad for help?
3. What kind of personality does Olivia has?
